My Yoga Journey:
Yoga has somehow always been a part of my life, without even knowing it. My interest in it started early on, movement wise I took inspiration for daily stretches and with the age of 15 I started to read and research the Indian Philosophy, implementing this wisdom alongside meditation in my Life. Yoga complemented my practise during many years as a Dancer. During this in time I experienced disembodiment, and often felt disassociated with my body. When I lacked the depth of movement during my time in the dance industry, practising Yoga kept me grounded, and aligned my body with mind and soul. Since I have dedicated much time in trainings in my Yoga practise, my Life has changed as I could never have imagined. I learned that we can use Movement as a powerful tool not just to connect with our deeper self, but also to move and manifest a Life more aligned with our true nature.

Sophia

Sophia is a yoga teacher, Afro Dance instructor and movement facilitator based in the Algarve, Portugal, teaching in English and German. She offers Soulflow – a weekly Yoga & Dance fusion class – alongside Vinyasa, Freestyle Movement and Yin Yoga. Her practice blends dance, rhythm and mindful movement with a focus on chakra work and somatic exploration. Sessions take place in the Algarve (near Sagres) and live online.

FAQ

What is Soulflow – Yoga & Dance? Soulflow is Sophia's signature session blending yoga and freestyle dance into one flow. It starts with grounding yoga sequences, builds into expressive, often Afro-dance-inspired movement, and closes with deep relaxation. It's not a choreography class – it's about feeling the music and moving intuitively.

Do I need dance experience to join? Not at all. Sophia breaks down every movement and gives you time to explore it in your own body. People with zero dance background have loved these sessions – the point isn't getting the moves "right," it's about reconnecting with your body through movement.

What does "Yoga for the Chakras" mean? Sophia structures her practice around the chakra system – the seven energy centres in the body. Each session may focus on a specific chakra, using movement, breathwork, and music to release blockages and restore balance. It's a way of working with the body that's energetic and intuitive, not just physical.

Can yoga and dance help with burnout or stress? Movement is one of the most effective ways to release stored tension and reset the nervous system. Sophia's sessions combine the calming, inward quality of yoga with the expressive release of dance – which makes them especially powerful for stress relief, burnout recovery, and getting out of your head and back into your body.

What's the session format? Soulflow Thursday runs 75 minutes, live online. Sophia shares the playlist in advance so you can already tune in to the energy before the session starts. Expect yoga, freestyle movement, guided meditation, and a good dose of music.
